 I have dual citizenship, a way out of here.

That is far-fetched.

My family almost didn't make it out of Germany.

That was 1939.

It could happen here.

No way.

Would be autocrat was President. He admires dictators.

So, he's gone.

He might be back.

No way.

Antisemitism, Islamaphobia, guns, angry white men.

Yes but.

Insurrection, our rights abrogated by the Supreme Court.

It's the U.S.A. Freedom for all.

That's never been true.

Oct. 7 in Israel.

So what.

No one cared to care, even progressives left the Jews.

Well, they apologized.

Too little too late.

Have empathy, people needed to think about the middle east.

Woke philosophy, intersectionality. 

Ignore them.

Sound bites. Fake videos.

Don't read or listen to the news.

City councils against Israel.

Ridiculous.

Jews are white; no they aren't. They fit in, only when it's convenient for others. Majority or minority?

We're all Americans, the melting pot.

That pot was thrown away.

Never.

Yes, now it's division, polarization, arguments, strife, whose side are you on.

Well.

Jewish women are only women when they're needed. Otherwise, they don't belong, can't be raped.

That's stupid.

Women's groups say Jewish women are part of the oppressors, they are first world not third.

It's one world.

Jews are victims, no they control money, no they are imperialists.

Some of my best friends are Jewish.

My daughter will get dual citizenship.

You worry too much.

That's what they said in Europe.

We are the good old U.S.A. Uncle Sam loves us.

He's a white, Christian male too.

Your're being silly.

Trump will win, a sociopath, a crook.

Joe will beat him.

Don't be so sure. History repeats.

Note: I wrote this sometime in the fall of 2023. A year and a half later, the unbelievable occurred. Trump won the 2024 election and became more vicious and dangerous. Yes, "it" can happen in the United States. Though we were taught our Democracy was strong, the structures and barriers were crumbling unseen.
